I have participated in ICA Conference 2008 which was held at KLCC Convention Center as a volunteer. ICA stands for Instumentation, Control and Automation. This conference is held biannually by ICSM (Instrumentation and Control System Malaysia).

It was one of the most important event in my life since I had gathered a lot of experience from just being there. I got to know new people such as En. Saiful, who is one of the top managers in Petronas and Abang Khairul, who is the secretary of ICSM and also one of Petronas division managers. I also got to know Eugene, a freshie at Petronas who had just graduated last year. Afiq and Aisya have also volunteered at the conference.

The conference was held on June 11 and 12. Aisya and I went there on June 10 so that we could help with the preparation. Aisya and I were given the duty to usher the delegates from over 40 different companies all over Malaysia. We were also in charge of the gifts for the speakers. The speakers came from Malaysia, Europe and also United States of America.

Afiq, in the other hand, was given the task of photography and usher. In the morning, he became the usher and once the conference started, he took a lot of pictures. Kak Faz was there as the usher and also our leader of the volunteers while Abang Raziz in charge of the emergency situation such as buying gifts when it is discovered that it’s not enough, etc.

It was a memorable event since I also learned a lot of new stuff, ranging from the technologies presented by the speakers to organizing the event and also relationship between people. It was as if I was in the middle of a vast ocean of knowledge.

If given any opportunity in the future, I would definitely join the ICSM and also volunteer in these kinds of events.
