When people are too narrow on political views

admin March 10th, 2008

Today I am having my period and I got emo since 2-3 days ago. And as usual, I have my menstrual cramps right on the day when I am going to have my exam on the most boring lecture ever.

Anyway, I chat with a cyber friend today and talked about politics. These few days, I love to talk about politics - probably because of the election. As you guys already know, I like BN - but that doesn’t mean I vote for them. I vote for the country.

So, I shared my views with this guy. I told him that the election is a good slap for BN to wake up. And I think he assumed that I like BA. So, he started bashing BN. And then, when I said I personally like BN, he started to get angry and said BN is full of dogs. I told him, not everyone in BN is wrong and not all of them are good. That’s human nature. Even in PAS there are some good people and some bad people that might want to use power for their own interest.

And since this guy is PAS obsessed, he started to get really angry and accuse me of saying bad things about PAS. He said BN said bad things about Islam (duh, I’ve never heard this yet). And I said, PAS also uses Islam to get votes (this is the only critic on PAS I had in the entire conversation besides saying there are bad and good people in PAS as well as BN). He started to get even angrier and bashed BN even more and protect PAS like its his son or something. (What makes him so different from the bad people himself if he always talk bad things?) - And the best thing happened, he just logged out after channeling all his anger.

Urgh, I’m trying to have an open-minded conversation here. Some people are just too obsessed and narrow minded that they don’t want to talk with anyone who has different political views than they have. How are you going to decide which is the best government for your country if you don’t open your mind and look at both sides? Vote for your country - not the political parties. Even though I am BN supporter - I won’t hesitate to vote for BA if I think BA can bring more good things to the country than BN would.

    Salaam :)
It shows how fanatic a person can be. It’s like, if we believe something different than them, we are the stupid one, we are the one that will go to hell.

Be supportive of a thing is good…but not till becoming fanatic… No doubt there are good people in BN BUT normally those good people are helpless as they can’t really do anything…

In other way, if you say the opposition I would say the same.

I even remembered there is this leader in an opposition controlled country which is quite religious uttered “Padan Muka Kena Rogol”

Aiseh, what kind of a leader that says that? Blaming the women for being raped?

Well, lots more examples….but in the end….no need to be too fanatic.. K?

    Peace… =p

In summary, don’t hate each other just because our beliefs are different.

    After all, nobody’s perfect.

    Peace :)

True true…and to make amendment to my sentence…

“this leader in an opposition controlled country”

Not supposed to be opposition controlled country…it is suppose to be state… =p

It is kinda sad that even till now the racial parties still exists. Not surprising though because after all fear is the best control mechanism.

    =p

    Peace…..

PAS using Islam to get votes? That is nonsense. UMNO has been doing that for a long time already. And I am saying this as a former UMNO supporter and now affiliated with PAS. My support for PAS is not due to any sort of fanaticism, but because I see that PAS is sincere in upholding Islam. Mahaad Hamidiah would not be in existence if not for the existence of PAS. But I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.

That’s really bad. When I talk about politics, I sometimes include humor ‘coz there are those who are really hardcore about their political beliefs.

Wah.. I didn’t know this post will have a lot of comments. Hehe. Thanks for reading everyone ^_^ especially zul, nadlique, cometh, menj and katherine.

And as for menj, maahad hamidiah is actually government school. You probably got it mixed up with maahad muhammadi. maahad hamidiah is in selangor while maahad muhammadi is in kelantan.

Regarding the “pas using islam to get votes” - I was probably wrong but that is what my view on pas is, just the same as anybody’s view on anything else - they might be right and they might be wrong. nobody is always 100% right or 100% wrong.

But I don’t like it when people just get angry without telling me the reason. This guy could have told me what PAS really is (since he’s so keep up with everything PAS does, etc) and said that pas does not using islam to get votes etc etc and shares his views on pas with me. He could have helped to change my view on PAS. But what he did was getting angry - which doesn’t help both parties at all.

But as I say, I always believe that we should vote for the country. If we think BN can rule the country better, vote for BN. If we think BA can rule the country better, then, vote for BA.
