Conclusion of 4 months of blogging and 2 years of studies..
admin July 30th, 2007
Well, this is not the end of my blogging career (should I call it as career at all?) or my studies but I just really feel that I want to do some conclusion and a reflect on what have I achieved through blogging and my life in USA.
Did I achieve any of my blogging objectives?
Yes. Definitely. I found that I’ve improved myself quite a lot especially for my writing. I’ve found out that ever since I’ve stepped into college years, my essay quality has deteriorated since as an engineer, you won’t have to write a lot of stuff. Just calculations and graphs and of course, circuits. Don’t even mention my Bahasa Melayu essay. I couldn’t even write one decent paragraph. =(
Did I earn anything from blogging?
Yes, a little, not as much as other though. I would like to first thank Zul, who helped me to get a huge chunk of my earnings by promoting my Bucks4Banners referral URLs. I would also like to thank fellow friends and bloggers who have supported Kaklong.Net all this while =)
So, here goes my rough figures (total for 4 months):
1) Google Adsense = $29
2) Bidvertiser = $2
3) Bucks4Banners = $99
4) PayPerPost = $170
I have only those 4 as income stream for Kaklong.Net . If you want to know more about any of these programs, give Making Money Online category a visit.
Have I forgotten Malaysia?
Of course not. Nothing can replace Malaysia. I kinda miss Malaysia right now. Anyone wants to sponsor a flight ticket back home? Let me tell you what Malaysia is best at that even US can’t beat:

1) All kinds of food - Malaysia has more variety food even though only consists of 3
main races. US consists of almost everyone from every part of the world but still does not have as variety of food as Malaysia has.
2) Halal market - You can just buy anything from anywhere without having to worry without it is halal or not. Here, we have to go to certain towns which have huge Muslim population in order to get halal food.
3) Cheap food and restaurants - If you want to eat at a restaurant in USA, make sure you have at least $20 and don’t forget the 15% tips T_T. If you want to eat in Malaysia, RM5 will already get you a good food and you don’t have to worry about tips!
4) Majid and surau - Solat in USA is so tough. You have to always bring a sejadah or just a piece of cloth in order to solat and you have to hunt for places which is not too hidden (in case they suspect us doing anything illegal) and not too widely seen by the public.
5) Job opportunities - It’s easier for us Malaysians to find jobs in Malaysia instead of in USA.
6) Taxes - USA charges the most taxes. Everything you do in life will be taxed. You’ll be taxed when you receive your income and you’ll be taxed when you buy stuff from the shops. We’re lucky they don’t tax the air we breath. And sadly, most of the tax money go to army instead of building America and providing amenities for the citizens. Come to USA and see that it’s not as beautiful or as modern as you think it is. Malaysia looks more modern.
7) This is the most important of all - my Ayah, Mama and all my family members are in Malaysia.
Will you ever go cross country USA?
I really wish I could go to everywhere in the USA before graduating but the chances that it would happen is only 20%. You can see my travel map to know where I’ve been to. The places that I will definitely visit in the future are California, Nevada and Arizona (the USA West Coast). I will only go on a road trip in Central USA if my parents come to visit me next summer. I’ll go cross country with them =)
Do you want to stay in USA?
I love USA and if given a chance by getting a good job, I would love to stay here for a few years until I was ready to contribute my experience here for our motherland, Malaysia.
Do you really ever feel that you chose the wrong Major?
Yes, since my mind is more towards business planning, I found that I’m not that interested to know about electric circuits (It may be that the lecturers bore me a lot). But I still can study Electrical Engineering and get a master in business later. 2 are better than 1, right?
Well, that’s all for now. Feel free to post any questions in the comments below and I’ll try my best to answer! ^_^
