Panda that was released into wild dies

admin May 31st, 2007

I have just read an article entitled “Panda that was released into wild dies” at Yahoo! News. The panda has been given numerous 3 years of surviving practices and tests but ended up dying in the wild less than a year after he has been released.

This is a saddening news, especially for me since I love cuddly animals very much - especially pandas. I even called my bf as my panda bear! Oh well, put that aside. From my point of view, a wild animal that has been living in captivity since small, should NOT be released to the wild. Try hard to imitate the wild as you can, you will not prepare the animals to be 100% equipped when he is released to the wild.

They are just the same as human beings. Imagine nurturing a human child, giving him everything he needs since he was born, and then suddenly releasing him into the wild (even after 3 years of practice) and in all of a sudden, he has to find everything on his own and running from enemies from his own. Maybe, he did not even know those animals are his enemies since he has always been living with people who love him. Believe me, it would not work. The wild is too different and just too dangerous for newbies. Wild animals learn how to survive from their mothers and grown-ups - not from practicing to live in a make-believe woods. =(
