My MING has arrived!
admin May 3rd, 2007
I placed an order last week for a Motorola Ming (A1200). MING took my heart away on the first glimpse because it has everything that I have ever wanted plus it is red in color! I have gone through various stages of decision making to make sure that the money I spent on this gadget is worth it. It has everything that I want:
1) MP3 player + video
I planned to buy Ipod Video/ Zen Vision but both of them are way too bulky for me. I won’t need 30gb either since I am only interested to bring only 2-3 of my favorite videos everywhere. Ming can also be an MP3 player plus it can play video! Isn’t that nice? It is quite small too and fit in my palm easily.
2) Sound recorder
Sometimes I just wished I could record a lecture which I like or the one that is very boring that I need assistance to hear. MING has a good sound recorder and is perfect for this usage. Even though it’s memory is small (1GB), I can easily transfer those files to my laptop when the class is done. =)
3) Alarm Clock!
Now I don’t have to buy a new alarm clock anymore since mine broke last 2 weeks =(

4) Calendar and task management
Sometimes, I just forgot things. Ming will greatly help since it has the alarm features which we can set it to ring when we have tasks to do! It can also remind you of your family and friends’ birthday ^_^
5) Camera & Video Recorder
Honestly, I don’t need these stuff since I have already had a digital camera. However, having a cell phone without a camera, seems a thing of the past.
6) PDA
If you haven’t already know this, Motorola Ming is actually a cell phone + PDA. You can download programs etc to customize your Ming. It can also read word files etc. Since I am learning programming right now and I am interested to do PDA programming for my senior project, I need a PDA to familiarize myself with. Plus, it uses Linux as its operating system, which I am interested to know more about. Ming helps me a lot in my programming projects!
Ming has various other features besides of being cute by itself. However, every devices have its pros and cons. One of the main lacking feature is it does not have any keyboard. Everything is on the touch screen. So, it might take a while to dial a number. If you are a SMS maniac, it will be a different experience when typing message using Ming. You have to use the virtual keyboard provided on the screen or just handwrite.
Well, that is all that I could think of for right now. I am planning to add more stuff related to Ming in the future. I will also include programs that you could download for your Ming. So, if you are interested in Ming, or you are one of the proud owners, please come back soon!
